The comprehensive map has been divided in 15 modules, each module representing a subpart of the diagram that describes the modifications (acetylation, phosphorylation) of a major protein in the cell cycle. Using the information from the initial diagram, connexions between the modules were introduced. The obtained circuit represents a modular view of the complete map. It is a useful abstraction of the complex diagram and can be a subject of modelling either with a discrete approach (Boolean analysis) or a continuous one (ODEs).
We propose [here] a description on how the modules were obtained using a semi-automatic technique of modularization using BiNoM
