Early in the cycle, CDK3 and its cyclin partner cyclin C bind to form an active dimer. CycC/CDK3 is the first cyclin-dependent kinase complex to phosphorylate RB and facilitate the G0/G1 transition (Ren and Rollins 2004; Sage 2004).
